The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Comes with a Snowplow
Unlike other cars in its class, the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will not have horsepower or aerodynamics as its main attraction even though it should. While these features and the performance are crisp, what is seemingly carrying the day is the ability of the supercar to get itself home safely under snowfall.
The Corvette has retained its excellence in terms of performance, but with summer only tires, most pundits are concerned about how it would handle snowy conditions. To remedy this, the supercar is built with a front splitter that doubles as a snowplough.
It is a great feature that will come in handy in the long winter months and help the car improve its grip on the road by clearing a rail as opposed to riding over the snow which can be a slippery affair.
With a supercharged 6.2 litre V8 drivetrain and the capacity to produce 755 horsepower, there is no question that the Corvette has maintained impressive performance even with the snowplough taking away some of the shine from the engine and performance.
Even though the performance is quite thrilling, it is worth noting that it is more applicable in the summer months and not too friendly over the winter stretches especially with the wide-reaching summer-only tires.
Even with the addition of the snowplough, the Corvette ZR1 has retained its provocative look, and the addition of carbon-fibre caps has ensured it maintains a substantial weight advantage over the ordinary snow ploughs.
The snowplough does not justify the hefty price tag, but it will give the driver peace of mind even when it starts snowing without warning. Don’t expect the car to be putting out test-worthy performances over the snow but it should be able to get you home safely.
